AYA

An amazing artist, I met Aya through Gamingforce Forums in 2002. Though I don't remember what exactly hit off our friendship, we'd become close friends by 2003. She lives in Sweden, but that doesn't stop us from planning an overseas holiday together sometime in the future as well as numerous creative projects.

If you like what you see here (as I'm sure you would), you can find more of her art here. The newest works are in the supernew directory.

Prom Dress Sketch

Prom Dress Sketch (??/??/2003)

I wanted something different for my Grade 12 formal and asked both Aya and Linda to design me a formal dress after their own fashion. If you've viewed some of Aya's other artworks you can see some lovely clothing designs, so I was eager to see what she'd come up with. I ended up choosing this design over Linda's as something about it really spoke out to me.

The final colours were a light blue textured/patterned fabric for the main dress, black pipelining for all the edges as well as the edges of the gloves, white stretch fabric for the gloves, and some cheap gold rings for the part that slips over the fingers.

A Pic For Swordy

A Pic For Swordy (??/02/2004)

For my 18th Birthday, Aya surprised me with a drawing featuring (from left to right) Midou Ban from the anime Get Backers, myself and Dark Mousey from the anime D.N.Angel. She claims that this one sucks compared to the one she originally drew, but that one suffered an irreparable ink blot. A shame... Since I really wonder what that one looked like. I wouldn't mind seeing this one in colour someday too. It's one of my all-time favourites.

Gal Rose Group - Pencils and Markers (??/??/2004)

As my favourite two artist friends were Aya and Linda, I was ecstatic when they began talking to each other and decided to do a collaboration. Aya drew the artwork and Linda coloured it digitally. In addition, Aya coloured the hardcopy with pencils and markers as well.

Gender Confusion

Gender Confusion (??/??/2004)

This one requires a bit of back story. Due to one reason or another, people were confused about my gender and age at Gamingforce -- even when it was publicly displayed. The effect was amplified on newer members when I decided to remove both pieces of information from my profile.

One time, when the topic was brought up in a thread, Aya thought it'd be fun to play a joke. As she flirted with me sometimes in the IRC channel for fun, when she posted this drawing alongside a short message of "<3" it caused quite a bit of confusion. The ones who knew for sure just sat by amused.

The Origami Project

The Origami Project (??/??/2004)

For Multimedia subject I was doing, I decided to make my major project on origami. As I have a thing against reference upon reference (especially the tediousness and unreliability needed for image references) in the APA style that's required for university assignments I decided to draw everything myself.
